Tasty Beer Cream Mussels

An already simple dish made even simpler with 9s Seafood's Frozen Mussels! Slurp up these chewy yet tender treats doused in tasty beer cream. Absolutely perfect with hot and crusty bread!

Preparation Time: 15 mins | Cooking Time: 15 min | Serves 2 pax

Ingredients

  • 30g Unsalted Butter

  • 3 - 4 Cloves of Garlic, Chopped

  • 1 Can of Beer (approx 320g)

  • 60g Thickened or Heavy Cream

  • 500g Mussels - For this recipe I've used Frozen Mussels from 9s Seafood

  • 2 Sprigs of Fresh Italian Parsley, Chopped (approx 2 Tbsp)

  • 1 Red Chili, Sliced - Optional

  • Pinch of Salt, or more to taste

  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Directions

  1. Soak mussels in water and briefly scrub them with a toothbrush. Remove the Mussel Beards (The greenish, hair like fibres that sprout out from the shells) and set aside.

  2. In a large heated saucepan, add in butter and stir till melted.

  3. Add in the chopped garlic and stir fry till fragrant. Then, add in the beer and bring to a boil. Once the beer comes to a boil, lower the heat and let the beer simmer for 5 minutes.

  4. Then, add in the cream and stir well. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to preferred taste.

  5. Once the mixture begins to bubble, add in the cleaned mussels and cover with lid. Let it cook for approximately 5 minutes.

  6. Turn off the heat and sprinkle chopped parsley into mixture. Stir well before serving.

  7. Ready to serve with your favourite breads!

Enjoy!

Signing off, Cher
