Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls

Can't go wrong with Brown Sugar and Cinnamon! These irresistible rolls are best served warm with a cuppa. Love this easy to follow recipe by Sally's Baking Addiction.

Prep Time: 10 mins | Dough Rising Time: 1 - 2 hours | Makes 8 pieces

Ingredients

(Dough)

  • 2 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour

  • 1/4 Cup Granulated White Sugar

  • 1 Tsp Salt

  • 2 1/4 Tsp Instant Yeast

  • 1/2 Cup Milk, room temperature

  • 1/4 Cup Water

  • 3 Tbsp Salted Butter (approx 45g)

  • 1 egg, room temperature

  • 1 Tsp Cooking Oil

(Cinnamon Sugar Filling) - *Mix in advance and set aside

  • 3 Tbsp Salted Butter (approx 45g), softened

  • 1 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon Powder

  • 1/4 Cup Fine Brown Sugar

(Icing)

  • 1 Cup Icing Sugar or Confectioners' Sugar

  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract or Baileys

  • 3 Tbsp Milk or Coffee

Directions

(Dough)

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk the yeast, sugar, salt and flour together and set aside.

  2. Combine the milk, water and butter in a small saucepan and heat over the stove (very low heat). Stir until butter dissolves into the mixture.

  3. Pour mixture and egg into flour mix and stir till well combined.

  4. Lightly flour your hands and knead the dough for 3 - 5 minutes (you can also use a stand mixer)

  5. Once kneaded, add oil to the base of the mixing bowl. Cover with cling wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 10 mins.

(Assembling the Roll)

  1. After 10 minutes, roll the dough out into a rectangle and evenly spread the Cinnamon Sugar Filling on top. Roll it up like a burrito and slice it lengthwise (about 8 - 10 pieces)

  2. Transfer rolls to a baking pan fitted with baking paper and cover with Cling Wrap. Let it rise for 1 - 2 hours.

Want a beautiful rise? Preheat your oven to 45°C and turn it off. Then, place the rolls in the oven. This method allows the yeast to rise at optimal temperature!

(Baking the Roll)

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.

  2. Bake the rolls for 25 - 28 minutes.

  3. In the meantime, whisk together the ingredients for the icing. Drizzle over the rolls when they are done.

  4. Ready to serve!

Note: If the top of the rolls start browning too quickly, tear up a piece of aluminium foil and place it over the tray and continue baking.
