Fragrant Herb Garlic Bread

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

Calling all fluffy bread lovers! Frolic in the wild aromatics of Dill, Parsley and Garlic and groove to the crunch of perfectly crisp bread crust. The best way to use up leftover herbs in the fridge!

Tip: Start this recipe at night just before you head to bed and wake up to perfectly risen bread dough. Let the yeast work while you sleep!

Prep: 10 mins | Rise: 10 (+ 3) hours | Bake: 25 - 30 min | Makes 1 Loaf

Ingredients

(Bread Dough)

  • 2 Cups Bread Flour

  • 1 1/4 Tsp Instant Yeast

  • 1 Tsp Salt

  • 1 Cup Warm Water (slightly warmer than room temperature)

(Herb Garlic Topping) - Blend together using a food processor and set aside.

  • 3 Sprigs Fresh Dill Leaves

  • 3 Sprigs Fresh Italian Parsely, Chopped

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic, Peeled

  • 3 - 4 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • Pinch of Ground Black Pepper

  • Pinch of Sea Salt

(Other ingredients)

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese, Shredded - Optional

Directions

(Bread Dough) - Prepare the night before

  1. Combine ingredients for the dough in a mixing bowl and stir well using a pair of Chopsticks or your hands. (The dough should feel moist at this stage)

  2. Seal the bowl with Cling Wrap and refrigerate for 8 - 10 hours.

  3. GET YOUR BEAUTY REST!

Note: After 8 - 10 hours, take your dough out of the refrigerator. You should see that the dough has doubled in size.

(Bread Dough) - Actual Day

  1. Prepare a loaf pan and put baking paper on the base. Add one Tbsp of Olive Oil on the baking paper.

  2. Gently roll the dough into a ball and divide it into 3. Then, roll each dough out into a long strip and place them side by side. Braid the dough, making sure to pinch the ends together.

  3. Place the braided dough in the loaf pan and spread the Herb Garlic Topping all over the dough.

  4. Seal the pan with Cling Wrap for 3 hours at room temperature (or until the dough has expanded to fit the pan).

  5. Preheat the oven to 205°C.

  6. Sprinkle the Parmesan Cheese over the bread and bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Ready to serve! (Note: If the top starts to brown too quickly, loosely place a sheet of aluminium foil over the bread and continue baking)

Look how fluffy the bread is!

Made too much?

Let the Bread cool down. Store in an airtight container and keep at room temperature. Should keep well for 2 - 3 days.

Enjoy!

Signing off, Cher
