Plunge into these crispy and chewy balls of happiness, abundantly packed with stretchy Mozzarella Cheese. Don't you just love a good cheese pull? The perfect afternoon snack!

Preparation Time: 5 mins | Dough Resting Time: 30 mins | Cooking Time: 6 mins | Makes 9 pieces

Ingredients

  • 100g Glutinous Rice Flour

  • 25g Plain Flour

  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Powder

  • 1/4 Tsp Sea Salt

  • 1 Tbsp Granulated White Sugar

  • 15g Unsalted Butter, Chilled

  • 70ml Water (Hot)

  • 80g Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded or Cubed

  • Cooking Oil

Directions

  1. Add both flours, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Then, add in butter and press it into the flour mixture until crumbly.

  2. Gradually add in the water and use your hands to mix till a dough ball is formed. Loosely cover the mixing bowl with a towel and let the dough rest for 30 mins.

  3. Portion out the dough into 9 pieces (approx 25g each) and set aside.

  4. In the meantime, roll your shredded cheese into a ball by cupping it in your palm and pressing it together. Each cheese ball should be around 9g. (Or, use cubed Mozzarella Cheese!)

  5. Flatten each ball of dough and put a cheese ball/ cube in the centre. Then, seal it by pressing the ends together *See Video Below*

  6. Heat some cooking oil in a saucepan (the oil should be the height of the dough balls) and gently drop the dough balls into the hot oil. Fry till golden brown and remove from oil to rest on a kitchen towel.

  7. Ready to serve!
