Spicy Gochujang Carbonara

Slurp up this delightful pasta dish packed with the flavourful taste of Gochujang. Spicy, tasty and slightly sweet, this distinctive Korean condiment works unbelievably well with Cream!

Prep Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time: 15 - 20 mins | Serves 2 - 3 pax

Ingredients

  • 200g Linguine

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • 30g Garlic Butter

  • 2 Cloves of Garlic, Chopped

  • 2 Sausages, Sliced

  • 100g White Button Mushrooms, Sliced (approx 6 pcs)

  • 2 Tbsp "Gochujang" or Red Chili Pepper Paste

  • 150g Heavy Cream or Cooking Cream

  • 1 Tsp Dried Chili Flakes - Optional

  • Pinch of Salt - To Taste

  • Pinch of Ground Black Pepper - To Taste

Directions

  1. Bring a pot of water to boil and add in some cooking oil. Cook the linguine al dente according to the instructions on the packaging (Undercook the noodles by 1 - 2 minutes). Drain and set aside when done.

  2. In the meantime, chop up the cloves of garlic and slice up the Sausages and Mushrooms.

  3. Add Olive Oil, Butter and Chopped Garlic to a pan on medium heat and stir-fry. Then, add in the Gochujang and Cream and mix well.

  4. Once the mixture comes to a boil and slightly thickens, add in the cooked linguine and stir well till each strand is well coated.

  5. Add dried chili flakes, salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. Ready to serve!
