Easy Ginger Scallion Sauce

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

Two words: Flavour packed! This unassuming sauce elevates any dish it is paired with and goes remarkably well even with plain rice. (Trust me, you'll be getting refills of rice just to finish this sauce.)

Traditionally, Ginger Scallion Sauce is prepared alongside Poached Chicken. However, I love it so much that I'll usually have it with just plain rice. Made with simple ingredients you can find at home, this easy and convenient recipe is one that you'll keep returning to!

Preparation Time: 5 mins | Serves 1 (large) portion

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Green Onion/ Scallions, Finely Chopped

  • 2 Tbsp Ginger, Grated or Finely Chopped

  • 1/2 Tsp Salt

  • 4 Tbsp Cooking Oil

  • 2 - 3 Fresh Chili Padi, Chopped - Optional

Directions

  1. Mix the ingredients (excluding the cooking oil) in a bowl.

  2. In a small saucepan, heat the cooking oil until it is hot - Put a test piece of scallion into the oil. If it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  3. Pour the hot oil into the bowl and mix.

  4. Ready to serve!

Watch the scallion ginger mix sizzle in the hot oil, IT SMELLS SO GOOD!

Made too much?

Once the oil has cooled down, store it in an air-tight bottle or container and keep refrigerated up to one week.

Enjoy!

Signing off, Cher
